God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." (Exodus 3:4)
Moses lived with a sense of destiny and purpose. When he was 40 years old he took steps toward his destiny by defending a fellow Hebrew. What he didn't count on though was God's timing and plan. After Moses killed the Egyptian man, he escaped into the wilderness for 40 years.
Now let's think about this for a moment. Moses dind't have any idea about a 40-year wilderness plan. All he knew was the he thought he has a destiny and purpose as a deliverer, and then off into the desert he went. One year, 5 years, 20 years went by. i can imagine that by them Moses had a fairly well discounted his own agenda and reconciled his life to one as a shepherd in the desert. Another 18 years went by. In the 38th year Moses was 78 years old and still no future other than the hot, dry desert. It wasn't until the 40th year that history took a dramatic turn of events for him, and the sense of purpose that was alive, and then died, was brought back to him again.
So it is with many people's lives where at one time there was a dream, a purpose, a future, but for some reason things didn't work out as planned. This could involve a marriage, business, ministry, family or so forth. We can have high expectations, but for some unexplainable reason, that which you looked forward to for years did not materialize. Well, the good news here is that our God is the God of the second chance. When Moses was probably at his lowest was when God was getting ready to do the greatest. There is something to be said for contentment and proving of our faith. Moses had reconciled his life to be without, but God stepped back into his life with a new plan. Friends, you never know when you;re going to have a God encounter that can take you to places you never expected. It might be a phone call, meeting a new friend, a new opportunity coming our way at work, whatever. What's important to know is that Moses was minding his business and then one day he saw something was burning, and we're told he went to investigate.
Live today to the fullest of what you have at this point. Worship and walk with your God. Draw close to Him and be open to Him regarding your future and your desires. Never lose that hope of God's purpose for you and then, maybe you too, will see something burning in the distance.. it could be your second chance for something great!
