We ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Colossians 1:9)
Throughout this month's devotional, there is one central truth we pray you catch - that God has a plan for you and He wants you to know what it is. All too often we pray for believers in Christ who are searching, confused, not understanding, double-minded, fearful, doubtful, and uncertain of God's will for their lives. Our hearts go out to each believer who is in such a state and we want to help clearly guide believers to know God's plan for them. Jesus said He did not want to leave us as orphans or as ones deprived of a father (John 14:18)
Read the above verse again. Note the word "filled." This implies that it is possible for a Christian to be full of God's will. To know His will, to understand His plan, and to have a sense of the future and what God desires to bring about and fulfill in your life. This is the Apostle Paul's prayer, that we be filled with God's will in "all wisdom and spiritual understanding." So, we not only can know of God's plan but also can obtain the wisdom to walk in it and apply understanding to enjoy it.
Throughout the latter days of this devotional we will lay the groundwork for discerning the will of God for our individual lives, families, occupations, gifting, and places within the body of Christ and kingdom of God on this earth. There is no greater joy in life than to be filled and to know you are walking and experiencing God's will for your life. Even though many of us have come from a variety of different backgrounds and roads, we still end up right where God wants us...in His Executive Plan. Today, pray this prayer for you and others you love. Ask God to fill you with His will and for you to have the wisdom to walk in it.
