Enjoying the Lord

For Your pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11)
He will rejoice over you with gladness. (Zephaniah 3:17)

Your perception of God will dictate the type of relationship you will have with Him. Some see God as a harsh taskmaster. Some understand Him as One who is afar off waiting to crush mankind if we step out of line. Some view Him as cold, calculating and indifferent to our needs. And so on...

The truth is, the primary reason for mankind being created was to be enjoyed by the Lord for us to enjoy Him. We were created to bring God pleasure. How does one enjoy the Lord, you may ask? Look around you the next time you are at a park on a warm summer day. Kids playing, families fellowshipping, hot dogs, games, and fun. These people are enjoying themselves. Think of the holiday seasons when family and friends get together for food and fellowship. It is a relaxed time to kick back and just enjoy each other's company. Have you ever seen a couple strolling along a beach hand in hand sharing and caring? Again, its all about relationship, communication, giving, and receiving. Enjoying one another.

Our God created us so He can bless us. It brings Him great joy when He sees that we are blessed and in return give Him thanks. Read the above verse again, "He will rejoice over you." The rest of Zephaniah 3:17 says that "He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Amazing, we can hear God sing! Yes, there is a place in our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ where we walk with Him and enjoy life with Him. Just like a parent with a little child, or the joy at a wedding feast, or a party for the young ones over 60 who get together and play their old favorite songs. There is singing and music to be enjoyed, which is a byproduct of our God enjoying us.

Today, take a deep breath, thank God for His relationship with you, and rejoice before Him...and don't be surprised if He does the same with you. Enjoy the Lord today.
