When the Lord Jesus comes into your life, you become a brand new individual. One created in the image of God and also reborn and linked into the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, we read that old things have passed away and all things are new. One of the greatest truths found in God's Word is the stated intention of our Lord's desire to transform us into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).
A simple Bible study that helps a believer grasp their new identity in Christ is to go through the New Testament and look for scriptures that show we are "in Him," "with Him," "by Him," "in Christ," and so forth. There are over 125 of these scriptures. As you do you'll find truths that explain the nature and character of your new identity and image in Christ. These scriptures tell us who the real you is. For example, the following lists a few scriptures that identify your new position in Christ;
- You are in Christ: Romans 8:37, 1 Corinthians 15:56, 2 Corinthians 2:14, 2 Corinthians 5:17
- Where you are in Christ: Ephesians 2:6, Colossians 2:12, Deuteronomy 28:1-14
- What you possess in Christ: Ephesians 1:2, 1 Corinthians 3:21, Luke 12:32
- What you can do in Christ: John 14:12, Mark 11:22-24, Philippians 4:13
We encourage you to read through these truths, meditate on them, begin to pray them out loud, and allow the Lord to create in you an understanding of who you really are. Over time, as you grow in Christ, you'll sense a new victory, dominion, and anointing to walk as Christians, and no closet will be able to hold you back from stepping out into a breakthrough lifestyle as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now go for it!
